al-Kibtiyyah al-Kubra (Fiftieth Anniversary Golden Jubilee: History of
the Coptic Tawfiq Society in fifty years 1881-1930.), [Cairo: The Coptic Tawfiq
Society Publication, 1930]. The Coptic Tawfiq Society, founded at Yusuf Moftah's
home on the 8th of January 1881, was one of the most influential of the
philanthropic societies that proliferated in the late 19th and early 20th century
in Egypt. Several of Moftah's family were members. |

This series consists of text and image files contained on Laurence Moftah's (niece
of Ragheb Moftah) hard drive. The text files include essays, biographies, and
bibliographies about various members of the Moftah family and other figures of
importance to Coptic Orthodox liturgy and music, descriptions of Coptic Christian
rituals and liturgy, accounts of monasteries and churches, and correspondence
about the Moftah family legacy. Information about the acquisition of the Ragheb
Moftah Collection is contained in several text files, as well as the role of the
American University in Cairo in preserving parts of the Iryan Moftah manuscripts.
Some of the text files include images pasted within them and/or are in Arabic. The
image files in the series encompass photographs of Laurence Moftah, Ragheb Moftah,
and other figures of relevance to the Moftah family, as well as scanned
correspondence related to the Moftah Collection. |
