This series forms the bulk of the collection. Significant correspondents include: Marshall Bartholomew, Aaron Copland, Arthur Fiedler, Erich Leinsdorf, Alan Lomax, and Noble Sissle. A number of young musicians and composers wrote to Spivacke concerning their war-time status, including Milton Babbitt, Samuel Barber, Nathan Gottschalk, Miklós Rózsa, David Sackson, William Schuman, and Oscar Shumsky. Many folders contain a single outgoing letter in response to a service memeber request.
Materials consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports, sheet music and music manuscripts, and publications.
Organized in three subseries.

This subseries consists of Sub-Committee communications with academics, composers and musicians, military personnel, and music publishers regarding participation in the Sub-Committee, rights and permissions, music activities in the field. Also included are music submissions, booklets and pamphlets, and song sheets submitted by publishers, composers, and colleagues.
