This series consists of five scrapbooks. These include a scrapbook containing
promotional material related to the television show Peter Gunn, as well as a scrapbook focused on Mancini's homecoming to Aliquippa,
Pennsylvania, in July 1960. Two other scrapbooks cover his tour of Japan in the
spring of 1967. The fifth scrapbook was a gift to Mancini on his sixtieth birthday
and includes congratulatory letters, telegrams, and photographs from friends and
family to commemorate the occasion. Notable film, television, and theater names
appear within, including Julie Andrews, Blake Edwards, Lawrence Welk, Meredith
Willson, and John Williams. |

This series includes newspaper and magazine clippings that document significant
moments in Mancini’s professional and personal life. Early clippings from the
1930s and 1940s highlight his activities with the Glenn Miller Band, directed by
Tex Beneke. The series includes numerous Billboard charts that trace the rankings
of his award-winning albums between the 1950s and the 1980s. Other clippings
advertise upcoming performances, album and film releases, and posthumous tributes.
In addition to Henry Mancini, this series includes clippings related to Ginny
Mancini’s activities as lead vocalist with the Mello Larks, as well as her later
involvement with The Society of Composers and Lyricists and various philanthropic
organizations. |
