This series consists of personal and business correspondence sent and received by Roger L. Stevens. It documents all phases of Stevens's career and includes letters from playwrights and authors about their work, correspondence about theatrical productions, and business correspondence concerning investments and other matters. It also includes personal correspondence with his extensive set of friends and acquaintances, such as convalescence letters, invitations, and thank you notes.

Additional business correspondence is found throughout the collection, particularly in Arts Administration, Theatrical Production Files, Organizations, and Real Estate Files. An extensive set of personal correspondence with Stevens and Gesell family members is located in Personal Papers.

Correspondents in this subseries include United States presidents Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan; political figures such as Hubert Humphrey, Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr., Edward M. Kennedy, and business associates Alfred R. Glancy Jr., Ben Tobin, G. Harold Welch, and John Wharton.

In the theatrical realm there is correspondence with agents Ninon Tallon Karlweis, Lucy Kroll, Robert Lantz, Emmanuel Wax, and Audrey Wood; impresarios and producers including Hugh "Binkie" Beaumont, Frederick Brisson, Hal Prince, Lars Schmidt, and Robert Whitehead; playwrights Christopher Fry, A. R. Gurney, Arthur Kopit, Harold Pinter, and Stanley Young; lighting and set designer Peggy Clark, choreographer Agnes DeMille, and scenic designer Oliver Smith; and actors Hume Cronyn, Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Katharine Hepburn, Charlton Heston, Alfred Lunt, and Gregory Peck. Also included are several photographs, floor plans, and scripts that accompanied correspondence.
This subseries contains the bulk of the correspondence files.
