musicologist Theodore M. Finney. Included are newspaper clippings, photographs of
Finney and family, programs for performances of his works, and drafts for two
commencement speeches given by Finney. Also present are approximately forty
responses to a questionnaire sent by Finney in late 1942 to prominent American
composers of the twentieth century regarding the role of the composer in war-time.
Notable respondents include Ernst Bacon, Elliott Carter, Aaron Copland, David Diamond,
Walter Piston, Quincy Porter, and William Schuman. All materials in this series
are cataloged in ML94.F55. |
