Materials are related predominantly to Ira Gershwin, but include a small amount related to George and Leonore.
Organized as three subseries.
Awards and Recognitions, 1932-1995
This subseries includes the honorary doctorate that Ira received from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as other certificates and plaques recognizing his achievements as a lyricist and writer. These items also include awards and honors presented posthumously to George Gershwin. Many of the awards are accompanied by correspondence, invitations, and programs.
