		This series represents the bulk of financial documentation related to Ira and Leonore Gershwin as well as the Rose Gershwin Testamentary Trust.
		Organized as three subseries.
		General, 1925-1993
			This subseries relates almost exclusively to the finances of Ira and Leonore Gershwin. Materials include appraisals, bank statements, charity and donation records, check registers, expense ledgers and statements, financial summaries, income ledgers and statements, royalty statements, securities reports, and tax records. Notable items include several financial notebooks in Ira’s hand. A small number of check registers, bank statements, yearly financial reports, and income notes document George’s finances between 1925 and 1937.
			Information pertaining to the Gershwin's household staff is restricted until 2040, at which time it will be reviewed by the Library of Congress Office of General Council.
