Song File, 1913-1964
The Gershwin Trust office compiled reference material for every song written by George and Ira Gershwin, what was known in the San Francisco office as the "second floor song file." The material available for any given song varies, but usually includes the basic bibliographic information and may also include copies of sheet music, music manuscripts, lyric sheets, or copyright deposit information. The non-Gershwin music in these files consists of songs by other composers and lyricists that also appeared in the same shows as the Gershwins.
Arranged alphabetically by title. Each entry lists the first and last song found in the box.
