This series documents Pearl Bailey's seven years as a student at Georgetown University through her course notes, class assignments, and selected annotated textbooks. For many of the assignments both Bailey's handwritten drafts and the submitted paper are present. Photographs document her campus experiences as well as commencement events. The scrapbooks contain congratulatory correspondence from Bailey's friends and admirers.

Among the topics included are the Amtrak crash rescue, Bailey and Bellson tours, baseball, honorary degrees, production of Member of the Wedding, performance reviews of The Pearl Bailey Show, and volunteer activities. There is also a significant amount of correspondence with political figures, foreign leaders, and ambassadors. Noteworthy topics and correspondents are identified in the notes for each volume. Some letters are annotated with Bailey's response.
