Most of the publisher catalogs represented in this sub-subseries were likely
acquired by Oliver Ditson Company prior to Ditson's acquisition by the
Theodore Presser Company. A few are John Church Company acquisitions and
twentieth-century Presser subsidiaries. Names of publishing houses are
listed in natural order; they are not inverted like personal names. A
publisher's name may have had several iterations over time, illustrating
growth, mergers, and other changes. Publisher names are listed below as
given on the music and similar iterations are not combined, e.g. "Firth
& Hall" publications are listed separately from music published by
"Firth, Hall & Pond" and "Firth, Pond & Co." In some cases, this
distinction may help date the music. |
