Scope and Content Note

This series consists of dance scores written in Benesh movement notation, a system of symbols for recording human movement published by Rudolf and Joan Benesh in 1956. The Benesh system uses symbols indicating movements and positions corresponding to the human body across a map of five parallel horizontal lines, similar to the Western music staff, to create a movement score read from left to right.
