Scope and Content Note

The Administrative File includes an array of files relating to Blackburn's administrative activities while a professor at the University of California at Berkeley and as a professor and department chair at the University of California at San Francisco. The majority of the files pertain to Blackburn's grants needed to fund her research on telomeres, telomerase, and breast cancer. The bulk of the University of California at San Francisco files pertain to the university's cancer center and document the campus move to Mission Bay. Also present are digital files documenting Blackburn's awards, including the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2009, media and oral history interviews, and her endeavors as a professor and department chair.


Material types include correspondence, memoranda, biographical material, calendars and schedules, patents, artwork for articles and presentations, certificates, programs, business cards, photographs, negatives, digital files, clippings, and printed matter.
