The papers of Thomas Bailey Aldrich (1836-1907) span the years 1873-1901 and consist of correspondence and a bound volume containing both a holograph and typescript of "Monody on the Death of Wendell Phillips." The correspondence contains letters sent by Aldrich and his wife, Lilian Woodman Aldrich, concerning personal and social matters. Most of the correspondence is to Aldrich's friend, Edward Howard House.

Acquisition Information

The papers of Thomas Bailey Aldrich, poet, fiction writer, and magazine editor, were received by the Library of Congress through the gifts of Leonard Kebler, E. R. Meyer, and Elizabeth S. Stevens, 1917-1985, and by purchase, 1943-1952.

Processing History

The papers of Thomas Bailey Aldrich were arranged and described by Karen Linn Femia in 1998. The finding aid was revised in 2007. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Maria Farmer as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.
