United States Finance Collection
Scope and Content Note
The United States Finance Collection spans the period 1761-1908, with the bulk of the material concentrated in the period 1793-1873. It consists of a broad array of miscellaneous financial and legal material including correspondence; bond payments; claims against the federal government and the Bank of the United States; French and Spanish indemnity payments; indentures; items relating to New York Supreme Court cases; proposed laws for Wyoming Territory, 1870; state marshal reports of “alien enemies who have reported themselves,” 1812-1814; state power of attorney authorizations; statements of accounts; invoices; United States consulate reports; United States lottery drawings, 1779; and other material. Included are letters signed by Ulysses S. Grant, Alexander Hamilton, Rutherford B. Hayes, and James K. Polk.

Abstract

This collection is organized chronologically with oversize volumes relating to United States lottery drawings, 1779, filed at the end.
