Compiled by the National Imagery and Mapping Agency, the collection consists of 21,231 maps, charts, photographs, photo-maps, diagrams, illustrations, and supporting documents organized into 281 reports/containers. The materials were used by the Americans, British, and Germans to plan military operations during World War II. All items are desclassified. The folders/containers are housed in nine banker's boxes.

Robert Clift served as a navigator in the 492nd Bomb Group during World War II. The second lieutentant flew on missions from February 22 to April 26 in Europe. He took part in hazardous, low-level insertion missions of Allied agents behind enemy lines. His unit received a citation from the War Department in 1947. The collection consists of a map that illustrates sixteen missions and copies of photos and official military documents.

H.H. Copeland and Son commissioned the materials that contain information about railroads in the United States from 1917 to 1958. The collection includes maps and data concerning railroad traffic density, tables on ton miles, freight density and traffic distribution, and other railway related tables and calculations. H. H. Copeland and Son were an investment house in existence from the late nineteenth century to around the mid 1950s. The materials were intended for their private use.
